Junior School Update

Mon Mar 28 03:18pm

28 March 2022

Dear Parents and Caregivers of the Junior School

Thank you for your understanding this morning with the very short notice of having to close the junior school today.  It wasn’t an easy decision to make, however it was the best decision at the time.

After further discussions with the Ministry of Education, the Board of Trustees have had to make the decision to close Room Kauri (Mrs Heaps) and Room Totara (Mrs C.) for the remainder of the week as both teachers will be absent and there are no relievers available.  These classes should reopen on Monday 4 April.  If you would like some work dropped into your mailbox, please let us know and we will arrange this.  Room Puriri will be open as usual.

We understand that this is short notice for parents and whānau, however we are unable to staff these classes safely.  Your child’s safety is our top priority at this time and will continue to be at the centre of our decision making.  If you are unable to find alternative child care, we will be able to have a small number of students on site with supervision.  Please let the office know so we can plan accordingly (phone/text 0272085331 or phone 2085331).

Thank you again for your support around this, it truly is appreciated.

Urgent Update for Junior Classes

Mon Mar 28 07:56am

28 March 2022

Dear Parents and Caregivers of the Junior School

Unfortunately, I have had to make the decision to close the junior school today.  I understand this is extremely short notice for all parents and appreciate your support with this decision.

I am asking that students in Room Kauri, Totara and Puriri stay home from school today as three teachers are away sick and I cannot find any relievers to cover these classes.  If you are unable to find alternative child care, we will be able to have a small number of students on site with supervision.

We will reevaluate this today with more information from all staff and families and I will be in contact this afternoon with an update for the week.

Your child’s safety is our top priority at this time and we feel with the teachers away and no relievers we are unable to staff the school to a safe number.

Thank you for your understanding, it is truly appreciated.

Seesaw

Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students. The Seesaw platform is used for homework activities as well as in class work.

Parents are also notified by the class teacher about classroom and school activities and events via the Seesaw platform. Parents can also Seesaw their child’s teacher.

Families only have access to their child’s journal. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’. Families will also be able to see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts.
